About

Charlie Donald is the founder of Insight Planning & Design and has over 20 years’ experience across architectural design, construction and the UK planning system.

Over the years he has developed a strong reputation for thoughtful design, clear planning strategy and a deep understanding of the planning process.

Insight Planning & Design focuses particularly on planning applications, listed buildings and development within conservation areas across Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds. Many projects in this region require careful consideration of heritage assets, local character and planning policy, and we take pride in guiding clients through these complexities with clarity and confidence.

Our experience of both the National Planning Policy Framework and local planning policies enables us to approach each project with a realistic and well-considered strategy. Through years of working within the planning system, we understand how to present proposals clearly and effectively to planning officers and local authorities.

At Insight Planning & Design we place great importance on building strong relationships with our clients. Every project is approached in a friendly, open and professional manner, helping clients move through the planning and design process with confidence and minimal stress.

We have recently used Insight Planning Services to obtain planning approval for our Grade 2 listed building. Our initial approach to the local planning dept. were problematic, however with Charlie on board things went very smoothly. Charlie is a good communicator and is quick to get a full understanding of client’s requirements. We can unreservedly recommend his services and wouldn’t hesitate to use him on future projects.

Really excellent service from Charlie. He took the time to take us through the planning process and was able to offer many ideas in the design of our project that we hadn't previously thought of. He dealt with the planning proposal and kept us regularly updated at all times. I would not hesitate in recommending him to anyone planning a project.
